Kathmandu, Nepal – 15 April 2026: The Mithila Art Foundation today announced the Mithila Art Festival 2026, scheduled to take place from 14–18 June 2026 at multiple venues across Janakpur and Kathmandu. This year’s festival, themed “Living Lines: Art as Resilience,” is expected to be the largest in the event’s 12-year history.

The festival will feature live painting demonstrations by over 80 master Madhubani artists, international art exhibitions showcasing Mithila works alongside folk art traditions from Japan, Mexico, and West Africa, workshops for artists and students, a symposium on intangible cultural heritage, and a grand cultural gala and awards ceremony recognising outstanding contributions to Mithila art.

“This festival is a celebration not only of an art form, but of the communities, histories, and values it carries,” said Executive Director Rajendra Prasad Singh. “We invite the world to come and witness Mithila art — not as a relic of the past, but as a living, breathing force in the present.”

Registration for workshops and the symposium is open at mithilaart.org/festival. Early-bird passes are available until 30 April 2026.
