Priya Thakur leads the Foundation’s community outreach and livelihood programmes, working directly with artisan families in the Mithila heartland. Her work is focused on creating sustainable economic pathways for artists, particularly women, by connecting them to domestic and international markets.

Since joining the Foundation in 2018, Priya has directly supported over 600 artisan families, helping them establish producer cooperatives, access microfinance, and adopt digital platforms for direct sales. She holds a Master’s in Social Development from the Asian Institute of Technology.

Priya is passionate about the intersection of cultural heritage and gender equity. She co-developed the Foundation’s “Artisan Women Leaders” fellowship, which has supported 80 women in taking on leadership roles in their communities. Her work was featured in the UN Women Asia-Pacific report on cultural industries and gender equity.
