Description
“Kohbar” painting is an integral part of Madhubani painting. The “Kohbar Ghar” or the “Nuptial Chamber” is the room where the painting is traditionally done on a wall or a piece of cloth, by the ladies of the Maithili household to bless the newlywed couple. It has quite a large number of elements. All the elements symbolize good wishes for the newly wed, wishing them happy married life, prosperity, fertility and growth. Some of the elements are also believed to ward of the evil eye.
In my version of Kohbar, I have tried to bring together around 30 elements.
